The County Executive, an elected official who serves as the chief executive and administrative officer of the County, heads the Executive branch.
All County ordinances are executed and enforced by the County Executive. Responsibilities include preparing budgets and financial plans and presenting them to County Council, advising County Council, recommending legislation and acting as a representative of the County. The County Executive signs or causes to be signed on behalf of the County all deeds, contracts and other instruments.
The County Executive directs and supervises the agencies and personnel under him in accordance with the Home Rule Charter. Cabinet Members are appointed by the Executive to direct the following departments:
