Northampton County Council Approves AFSCME Contract Covering 379 Employees

What: A new three-year labor contract agreement

When: Approved by Northampton County Council on Thursday, July 17, 2025


[Northampton County, PA] – Northampton County is moving forward with a newly approved three-year labor contract affecting 379 employees represented by AFSCME Council 13 Local 1265, which includes Residual, Court Appointment, Court Related, and Youth Care workers.


The agreement, put forward by County Executive Lamont G. McClure’s administration, is a reflection of the County’s ongoing commitment to strong partnerships with its labor unions. The contract includes an 11% wage increase over three years through cost-of-living adjustments (COLAs) and maintains healthcare coverage with no changes, preserving both economic stability and quality benefits for these essential workers.


“This agreement reflects our continued commitment to treating our workforce with fairness and respect,” said County Executive Lamont G. McClure. “I thank AFSCME and our team for negotiating in good faith and reaching a contract that supports the vital services our employees deliver every day to the residents of Northampton County.”


This agreement is the latest example of the County Executive’s continued efforts to invest in frontline workers and honor the essential role of organized labor in delivering public services. The contract will be in effect through 2028.
